Prague Rail and Trains
If you are vacationing in Prague or visiting the city on business and wish to use the region’s public transport, to get around the place or go sightseeing, then the Czech Rail Network and Prague trains are a definite option.
The Czech Republic has a vast and well organised rail network connecting places all over Europe to Prague and other Czech regions. You can travel via train to
Prague from almost any country in Europe, with direct trains to Prague available from Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland, Germany, Hungary and Austria. Those looking to get to Prague from any other region will have to take interconnecting trains.
The Czech rail network runs different kinds of trains to Prague and these include Expres (a fast train that connects different parts of the Czech Republic to Prague), Intercity (long distance), Supercity (super fast international train) and Eurocity (only stops at important European cities).
Prague has four major train stations, all of which are connected to the Czech rail network. Visitors looking to get to Prague from international destinations will have to alight either at the Hlavní nádraží or the Nadrazi Holesovice station, depending on the train they are using. Trains to Prague’s Hlavni nadrazi will take them into the city and Wenceslas Square, while trains stopping at the Holesovice will travel to the northern part of the city.
