Guide to the Prague Christmas Market
Prague Xmas Market
Christmas is celebrated widely in the scenic city of Prague in the Czech Republic. At this time, the city comes alive with a Christmas Market which attracts visitors from across Europe in December. This market is usually held from the last week of November until the first day of January, ushering in the New Year. A number of markets dot the city around this time but the best ones are set up in the Old Town Square and the Wenceslas
Square.
Smaller markets can be found around Namesti Republiky and Havelska Trziste. All these markets are open between 9 am in the morning and 7 pm in the evening. The large markets as well as the small ones are interconnected and are only 10 minutes away from each other.
The most prominent aspect of the Prague Christmas Market is the market held at the Old Town Square. It is the biggest of the markets to be held during this season and celebrates the festive season by lighting up a giant Christmas tree in the middle of the market. This picturesque market has small decorated huts acting as shops throughout the entire area selling Christmas decorations, goodies, tree ornaments, gifts and toys.
The products sold at the Xmas Market typically include traditional Czech handicrafts along with delicious local food specialties and a range of special Czech beers.
